Hummingbirds are amazing!
They are the only bird that can fly backwards.
Depending on the species, their wings beat at a rate of 12 to 90 times per SECOND!
My wife saved this fledging from the cats last summer.
And here’s one at our feeder.
The hummingbird’s heart rate can vary from 250 to 1200 beats per minute! (daytime)
At night the bird has the ability to lower its heart rate to 50-180 beats, allowing it to survive the night without feeding on nectar.
