Education In Nature Green Lizards-Chameleons? Not So Fast

Have you seen these little guys running around? They can change shades of color and some people call them Chameleons…

But are they?
lizardMy wife caught this one. (Of Course)

It’s called a Green Anole. They are found in the southern states and are sometimes called Chameleons because of their ability to change colors. They can shift from brown to many shades of green but are not true Chameleons. Their change in color is gradual and affected by temperature and their surroundings. Normally fast and hard to catch, for some reason this one decided he liked being held. Although the Green Anole makes a great pet, we let this one go.  lizard2
